马耳他语

很多想提高英语水平的欧洲人都喜欢去马耳他旅行。 因为英语是南欧许多小岛国家的官方语言。 马耳他以他众多的语言学校闻名于世。 但是，语言学家们对此毫无兴致。 他们对马耳他的兴趣另有缘由。 马耳他共和国还有一门官方语言：马耳他语（或马尔蒂语）。 马耳他语从阿拉伯语方言中发展而来。 所以马耳他语是欧洲唯一一门闪米特语言。 但是马耳他语的句法和语音系统和阿拉伯语不同。 马耳他语也以拉丁字母作为书写文字。 但它的字母有一些特色。 比如：c和y这两个字母完全缺失。 它的词汇里包含着许多不同语言的元素。 除了阿拉伯语，主要还有意大利语和英语元素。 腓尼基语和迦太基语也曾影响马耳他语。 因此某些研究人员认为马耳他语是一门阿拉伯克里奥尔语。 历史上的马耳他曾被许多列强占领。 所有这些都在马耳他岛，戈佐岛和科米诺岛上留下了历史痕迹。 马耳他语在很长一段时间里只是当地一门通俗口语。 但它一直是“真正”马耳他人的母语。 马耳他语也一样通过口语世代相传。 直到19世纪，人们才开始书写它。 今天马耳他语的使用者大约是33万人。 马耳他在2004年加入欧盟。 因此马耳他语也算是一门欧洲官方语言。 对马耳他人来说，语言是他们文化中的一部分。 他们为外国人愿意学习马耳他语而感到高兴。 但是在马耳他，语言学校绝对是够多了......
