Les llengües de la Unió Europea

La Unió Europea està formada per més de vint països. Més nacions s'integraran a la UE en un futur proper. Amb cada nou país s'incorpora també una nova llengua. A dia d' avui, a la UE es parlen més de vint llengües diferents. Totes les llengües de la Unió Europea tenen els mateixos drets. La diversitat lingüística és fascinant. Encara que també pot comportar alguns problemes. Els escèptics opinen que tants idiomes són un destorb per a la UE. Impedeixen una cooperació eficient. Alguns creuen, doncs, que s'hauria d'establir una llengua comuna. Tots els països haurien d'utilitzar-ne aquesta llengua per comunicar-se entre si. Però això no és tan senzill. No es pot triar un únic idioma com a idioma oficial. Els altres països se sentirien en inferioritat de condicions. I no existeix en realitat cap llengua neutral a Europa... Tampoc funcionaria una llengua artificial com l'esperanto. Perquè la cultura d'una nació es reflecteix sempre en la llengua. Per això no hi ha cap país que vulgui renunciar a la seva llengua. Cada nació veu en el seu idioma una part de la seva identitat. La política lingüística és un dels assumptes més importants de l'agenda de la UE. Hi ha fins i tot un comissari pels temes relacionats amb el multilingüisme. La UE compta amb el major nombre de traductors i intèrprets del món. Aproximadament 3.500 persones treballen per fer possible l'entesa lingüística. Tot i així, no es poden traduir tots els documents. Això seria massa costós, tant en temps com en diners. La major part dels documents es tradueixen a unes poques llengües. Aquest gran nombre de llengües representa un dels majors reptes de la UE. Europa ha d'unir-se sense haver de renunciar a les diverses identitats que la defineixen!
