Le lingue africane

In Africa si parlano tantissime lingue, come in nessun altro continente. Il numero delle lingue africane è impressionante. Se ne contano circa 2000 e non sono tutte simili fra loro. Al contrario! A volte non hanno alcuna affinità linguistica. Le lingue africane appartengono a quattro famiglie linguistiche. Alcune hanno delle caratteristiche uniche al mondo e nessuno straniero sarebbe in grado di imitarle. In Africa, i confini geografici non corrispondono ai confini linguistici. Inoltre, in alcune regioni si parlano tantissime lingue. Quelle parlate in Tanzania appartengono, per esempio, a quattro famiglie. Un’eccezione è rappresentata dall’Afrikaans, il cui primo utilizzo risale all’epoca coloniale, momento di incontro fra genti proveniente dall’Africa, dall’Europa e dall’Asia. Da questo incontro ebbe vita una nuova lingua. L’Afrikaans risente dell’influenza di molte lingue, soprattutto dell’affinità con il nederlandese. Questa lingua viene parlata oggi in Sudafrica e in Namibia. Il più straordinario linguaggio africano è quella dei tamburi, in grado di elaborare e inviare qualsiasi messaggio. Il linguaggio dei tamburi è quello delle lingue tonali, in cui il significato delle parole o delle sillabe è in correlazione con l’altezza del suono. Ciò significa che i toni debbono essere riprodotti dai tamburi. Anche i bambini in Africa capiscono il linguaggio dei tamburi, il quale è assai efficiente e chiaro. Si sente fino a dodici chilometri di distanza!
